Our 8 Stages of DfE Innovation Strategies:
As part of the DfE process, we began using life cycle inventory (LCI) modeling in 2011 to help understand the overall environmental impact of our products, highlighting opportunities to reduce the impact through material use and design. We are on track to meet our goal to complete LCI modeling in 100% of our plants that manufacture vitreous china, stainless steel, and faucets products by the end of 2022 and will be tracking DfE impacts on GHG emissions and water consumption and reporting progress going forward. During 2021 we launched a dashboard to track the progress of DfE integration into our new product development projects to track our goal of achieving 100% DfE integration into new product development. Kohler uses the Positive by Design

designation for our products that are designed using the DfE process and have shown an improvement in at least one sustainability metric without any trade-offs.
2021
By the end of 2021, 100% of new product development projects for KOHLER , STERLING , and Mira used the DfE process. In addition, Kohler Power Systems North America utilized DfE for its mechanical engineering products.
